As a California girl, it was time to learn my ABC’s of Florida. One of my favorite U.S. destinations, I’ve looped the Florida Keys twice, am a regular in Miami, and experienced St Pete’s Beach to escape the cold… but I had never heard of Sarasota.

Ranked by magazines as the #1 Beach in the U.S.A., there’s more to the culture coast than white sand by the sea.
Here’s a look at Sarasota, Florida:

Art in Sarasota, Florida

We spent an entire day exploring the Ringling Museum, a Florida meets Italy byproduct of John and Mable Ringling. If the Ringling Brothers can boast “The Greatest Show on Earth,” their then-home and now museum is the greatest museum in Florida.

Between the Asolo Theater, Ca’d’zon and the Circus Museum, you’re sure to find your own Beatles moment.

A little preview. #Sarasota #Florida ?: @sweatengine

Shopping, kayaks, spas — and resorts entertain locals and natives a like.

Known for golf and the marina, the Sarasota community is about quiet wealth, and moments you want to get a little rowdy.

Sand Point Restaurant at Resort at Longboat Key

Great for breakfast or dinner. (exclusive club members and hotel guests)

Tommy Bahama Restaurant at St Armand’s Circle

I recommend the dipping sauce with the fish tacos.

Tsunami Sushi & Hiabachi Grill in Downtown Sarasota — great sax music too.

Looking for that dive bar with Karaoke? Check out Smokin’ Joes.

Thank you to Visit Florida for sponsoring this blog post and allowing me to experience and share my time in Sarasota. I didn’t know anything about the town and wouldn’t have known to check it without their resources.

How does this work?

It means that I could experience Florida on my own accord and share my experiences as a traveler and story-teller. Visit Florida contributed to the maintenance of this website, so that you can continue reading for free. Per usual, all opinions expressed are my own.
